Offensive/Defensive Drills

Offensive Cycle - Defensive Drag and Shoot

On Offensive side players work on cycling the puck to create space to get to the net while on the defensive side players work on keeping the puck in at the blue line and walking to the center of the ice to increase scoring opportunities off the shot.

Offensive Cycle - Defensive Support

On Offensive side players work on cycling the puck up high for a shot and driving the net for a screen or rebound while on the Defensive side players work on providing support in their end and making smart breakout passes.

Offensive Cycle with Shot - Defensive Angling/Battle

On Offensive side players work on cycling high away from pressure for a shot, then making smart passes to the high slot for a second shot. On Defensive side one player works on retrieving pucks in the corner while the other works on angling the body to the outside.

Defenceman Transition

Defence works on receiving puck near their blue line and creating space to make a breakout pass. Ends with two shots on net.

Defensive Zone Coverage

Working with players in the defensive zone to assure they have sound positioning to take away opposition scoring chances.

Defence Agility #1

Defenceman work on collecting a puck at center, creating time and space, and making smart neutral zone passes. Finishes with a 1-on-0.

Defence Agility #2

Defenceman work on collecting a puck at center, using their partner as an outlet, and making smart neutral zone passes. Finishes with a 2-on-0.

Offensive Cycle - Defensive Breakout

Offensive players work on delaying in the offensive zone to set up for shot from the slot while Defensive players work on quickly moving the puck up the boards.

Offensive Cycle - Defensive Point Shot

Forwards work on cycling before driving the net while Defence work on holding the blue line and walking to the middle for a shot.

Defensive Zone Backcheck

Offensive zone attack with forwards backchecking to result in 5-on-5.
