Every clinic, camp and training session is designed to work on the foundational elements of ice hockey, using specific methods developed by Puckmasters. We have found that when a student masters the foundational elements then mastery of the more complicated skills follows almost automatically, and this produces a much higher likelihood of retention.
Our philosophy is to focus on one skill at a time and use creative repetition to enable our students to master and retain that skill. Our teaching methods make use of extensive end-point visualization (EPV) and backwards shaping techniques, which are remarkable in their ability to achieve long lasting results.
Puckmasters also uses specific, positive reinforcement to build the confidence levels of the players and improve their ability to learn higher-level skills. This, combined with our fundamentals based methods, produces players who are more willing to put their newly developed skills into live action.
Confident players who have mastered a skill will invariably have a sense of pride in their accomplishment. This develops players that are more willing to put their new skill set into live action and aggressively take on new challenges.
